Rong Rive the King! Japan Celebrates "Elvis"

Well, it's that time again.

"What time is that?" you say? Well, it was anniversary of the Elvis Pulesley's, er,  mean, Presley's  birthday (Jan 10). So for you folks in the USA, it's going on right now.

In Japan, we have a contest to crown the new King Elvis for 2011.

As Sky News reports:

According to the Elvis Presley Society of Japan, there are at least three important criteria impersonators must live up to to be named the next 'King of Rock' -- voice, make-up and costume, and the ability to make women scream with delight. The 'Tribute to Elvis 2011' held in Tokyo is a contest to choose Japan's new king, who would also be given a chance to test his skills against other Elvises from around the world.

Here's Aaron Narikyo. The former Elvis champion.

I’m just one of many bloggers who answer questions online and sometimes for the press. I usually handle questions about Japan, marketing or the economy, so in those areas I’m more likely to make sense and less likely to say something really stupid. If I post something here that you find helpful or interesting, that’s wonderful. This is my personal blog. If you don't like what you have read here then, just like when you go into a restaurant or bar that allows smoking, if you don't like it, there's something at the front that has hinges on it and it is called a "door."
