Bizarre Japanese Made Videos

In Japan, there is a site that is more popular than YouTube. It is called "Nico Nico Douga."

"Nico" means "smile" and "Douga" means "moving pictures."

Lots of Japanese people put up the videos they made on that site. As you can imagine, since this is a Japanese site, there is some pretty bizarre stuff there.

Here's one that made it's way to YouTube. I can only imagine what this is all about and why it was made. Maybe it was a nightmare after eating too many Big Macs. Who knows?

When the video ends, you'll see a whole bunch of others made by the same person using this Ronald McDonald theme. Weird!

  1. Hey Mike!

Why do they call him "Donald" in Japan when he's known as "Ronald" in the US?

On a similar note, why do the Japanese bastardize American movie titles (like renaming "The Book of Eli" in the US "Walker" in Japan).

Comments must be succinct & relevant to the story. Comments are checked frequently and abusive, rude or profane comments will be deleted. I’m just one of many bloggers who answer questions online and sometimes for the press. I usually handle questions about Japan, marketing or the economy, so in those areas I’m more likely to make sense and less likely to say something really stupid. If I post something here that you find helpful or interesting, that’s wonderful. This is my personal blog. If you don't like what you have read here then, just like when you go into a restaurant or bar that allows smoking, if you don't like it, there's something at the front that has hinges on it and it is called a "door."
