Next up is a band from St. Petersburg Russia who just finished their USA tour! They are Messer Chups! Their bio states: "While Messer Chups' mostly instrumental sound is hard to neatly categorize, it’s safe to say that it would be embraced by fans of rockabilly, horror punk, vintage surf records, Italian slasher films, My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, Pulp Fiction, lounge music, the theremin, The Cramps, and the theme song from The Munsters. Their catchy music combines surf, vintage Russian melodies, rare film samples from the 50s and 60s, scratchy historical recordings, and lounge loops. Live, they explode with garage-punk intensity, all played against a video-collage backdrop of mid-century trashy cult and horror movie clips featuring Russ Meyer and Ed Wood, and superstars like Vampira and Bela Lugosi in a zombie mash-up."

At #1 this week is Bad Mary who will be touring Japan in August and September 2019! Their name is Bad Mary and they are hot!
Bad Mary's bio states: "It’s not the 70s anymore in NYC – but the spirit of that era’s wild punk scene is alive, well and infused into the contemporary roar that’s blasting out of multi-generational Long Island based sensation Bad Mary. Building off the crackling success of their debut album Better Days – which garnered three first round Grammy ballot nods and whose “Forget About It” and “Don’t Know Where The Line Is” provided an edgy soundtrack to the 2014 NBA Finals – the foursome led by powerhouse vocalist Amanda Mac has a fresh bold task for their new EP: Killing Dinosaurs."

Comments must be succinct & relevant to the story. Comments are checked frequently and abusive, rude or profane comments will be deleted. I’m just one of many bloggers who answer questions online and sometimes for the press. I usually handle questions about Japan, marketing or the economy, so in those areas I’m more likely to make sense and less likely to say something really stupid. If I post something here that you find helpful or interesting, that’s wonderful. This is my personal blog. If you don't like what you have read here then, just like when you go into a restaurant or bar that allows smoking, if you don't like it, there's something at the front that has hinges on it and it is called a "door."
