People Are Poisoning Themselves and Their Own Children at Breakfast. Are You One of Them?

Watch this video sent to me from my dear friend Linda Schrock Taylor. It's in Spanish, but you don't need to be able to speak Spanish to understand what this is all about. It is about Sugar in our diets and nasties that too much sugar causes, like diabetes.



I wake up everyday and I make breakfast for my wife and son. It is 90% raw vegetables and fruits. There is nothing processed in it at all. I also, when I awake, do work and check my e-mail and waste time on Facebook. I am appalled at how many people will post photos of their breakfast that consists of things like a stack of pancakes with syrup and whipped cream on top... Or they have photos of a breakfast of deep fried potatoes, waffles or french toast smothered in syrup along with processed orange juice. Don't forget the cup or three of coffee with two cubes of sugar in each, please.

Sorry, folks, but it kind of makes me sick to even think about eating like that. But don't think that I didn't eat that way too. I did. But now I know better. 

I have been reading recently that over 1 in 6 America kids are on some sort of drug regimen to control behavior in schools. In some states, I read that the schools are now allowed to give these sorts of mood controlling chemicals to unruly students. Madness! 

I firmly believe that American children suffer all sorts of ailments because of diet. Think about it, of course your kid is sick when he eats processed foods all the time. Of course he can't concentrate at school; his brain is fried with chemicals. Of course two Pop Tarts and a bowl of Captain Crunch are NOT a healthy and balanced diet no matter what the label on the box says (Extra Iron added!). There is no child who can function normally when eating junk all the time. 

Folks, eating junk food constantly is bad. The food doesn't go through you, it becomes you. You eat junk, you become junk. 

Folks, a breakfast of Sugary cereals, a sugar laden piece of toast or a Starbucks cinnamon roll is not a healthy breakfast, it is poison.

Everything is raw. Heavy raw veggie and fruits intake at every meal. Here, raw carrots, strawberries, tomatoes, cucumber, asparagus, lettuce (not pictured) cashews, oranges, grapes (peeled), blueberries, fresh grapefruit, bottled mineral water. My son eats like this three times a day. He will also have a little bit of rice once a day and some meat or fish. Never will he eat processed foods or fast food. (Read this! Health is important. Beef is a luxury. If you're going to eat beef, then eat the best quality grass fed beef. For Chicken? Buy chickens from real farms.

The best quality grass fed beef comes from New Zealand. USA beef is full of drugs and chemicals (and bovine growth hormones) and even banned in many nations! I've bought Australian beef that was reprocessed. So we don't buy that anymore.

The economy and life are tough enough on our children without us giving them a lifetime of bad eating habits that will only pull them down mentally and physically. Let us stop this and start to make the small effort everyday to give our children eating habits that will help them to live healthy and prosperous lives!

I used to coach children's sports. I coached a kid's team that had 75% of the kids from homes without a father. The mothers did their best, but they had to work. The kids were usually on their own. I felt sorry for them so I tried to be their friend and their dad every Saturday at practice and at game time.

Since I did this, I got to know these kids pretty well. I could see how the kids mood and energy levels were different every time at practice. It was curious. One day a kid would be fine and seem like his head was clear; he'd be "with" us. The next time, he'd be bouncing off the walls and throwing the ball away constantly! It was strange! I'd ask them what they ate for breakfast... 

They'd tell me what they ate and it was then that I realized that there is a problem. Whenever the kids ate breakfast cereals, they couldn't concentrate. If they ate somewhat healthy, they were okay. I wondered what they'd be like if they really did eat a healthy breakfast? Heck, they'd probably all be supermen!

If a kid cannot concentrate at basketball when he is running around having fun with friends because he didn't eat right, how in the heck can anyone expect that he could do well in school sitting in a boring classroom where he has to be silent and pay attention? Especially is he had a sugar high from eating a high fructose corn syrup laced breakfast?

Things are tough enough for kids (and life is long and difficult) that they need all the breaks and advantages they can get! They need to begin to have a life whereby raw vegetables and fruits are at least 90% of their eating habits!

I know mom and dad are busy, but preparing raw foods three meals a day is cheaper and, actually, faster (cut a lot at once and use Tupperware)... Also you'll save money in the long run on medical bills.

Why My Child Doesn't Have ADD or ADHD or Any of These Medical Problems.

My kid doesn't have these various diseases that plague US children (ADD & ADHD are not so prevalent in Japan nowadays). Why? My child eats healthy.


I firmly believe that American children suffer all sorts of ailments because of diet. Think about it, of course your kid is sick when he eats processed foods all the time. Of course he can't concentrate at school; his brain is fried with chemicals. Of course. There is no child who can function normally when eating junk all the time. Eating junk doesn't go through you, it becomes you.

Folks, a breakfast of Sugary cereals, a Pop-Tart and a glass of homogenized milk is NOT a healthy breakfast.

He will also have a little bit of rice or bread once a day and some meat or fish. Never will he eat processed foods or fast food. (Read this! The Super Healthy Breakfast - Raw Food! Live Younger, Longer and Look and Feel Great!



The super healthy breakfast. This is what my son eats everyday! You should too! You'll lose weight, feel great and look years younger. I started eating raw over six years ago and I am never going back the the standard sick diet that everyone eats. I recommend the raw food diet for everyone. It’s also good for all sorts of ailments.

Left: (raw) Grapefruit, strawberries, lettuce, cashews, blueberries, carrots, mini tomatoes, cucumbers, oranges slices, (lightly boiled) broccoli.

Right: Home made raw juice. Ingredients: Cabbage, broccoli and alfalfa sprouts, ginger root, asparagus, carrot, broccoli, Goya, pineapple, oranges, banana, milk.

Not pictured: One half English muffin and two slices bacon.

Note: I usually just have the juice - about one liter and one banana for breakfast. I do not eat the toast and bacon. I am slowly weaning my son off the cooked food. He is now about a 70% raw food eater. I am 95%. 


OK, well, my hair is a disaster (as usual) but I'm 6 months short of 55-years-old in this photo. I know if I stay on the raw food, I can keep this for the next ten years. (Photo taken at 11:40 am Saturday Feb. 11, 2012)

Seriously, I recommend this for everyone. I used to have gout and high blood pressure. But I don't anymore. I wrote about that in Gout Sufferers of the World, Unite!

Need More Time? Too Much Stress? Stop Drinking!

Sometimes work just seems to get out of hand and, no matter what you do, it seems like there's not enough time in the day to get done all the things you need to. I've had this experience many times.


In fact, from the middle of 2011 to the end of the year, I felt this way constantly. I was carrying a heavy schedule and also had serious stress from dealing with partners and investors. Sometimes it seemed that I had no one to talk to.


I was doing my best to go out and make sales for my new company and, due to the nature of the business, that meant going out at night and drinking with clients and potential customers. That's really where the problem begins; I like to drink. Sometimes I like it too much.


In Japan, it is very common for business deals to be worked out, not at the office, but at a drinking establishment. I've concluded hundreds of deals this way.




I've concluded so many deals the good old Japanese drinking way that I don't even remember them all.


I also don't remember, often times, how I got home after making those deals. I just woke up the next morning, in bed, with a massive hangover. That's the problem with drinking; it's hard to be a social drinker for me. I like to drink and I like the feeling I get when the alcohol "warms me up." Especially if I am at a rock concert or dealing and meeting with music industry related people.


Even so, I've gone periods when I drank every night for months. I've also gone periods when I didn't drink at all for months. Alcohol is a very powerful drug and your body will still feel the effects of it long after you've stopped drinking. I noticed that, in the times I'd go for months without a drink that if I had even one beer, I'd feel tired the next morning. Really! Even one drink at night will have a sedative effect on you the next morning when you wake up.


If I don't drink for about three or four days, the tiredness feeling starts to go away. Seriously, that's how long it takes; three or four days. If you go without a drink for about a week or two, then you will have completely flushed the alcohol out of your system and start to feel much more energetic.


So, if you are a regular drinker, try that: one day without even a taste of alcohol will make you feel better the next morning. Two weeks will make you feel much better and younger. If you go on a raw food diet and don't drink for six months, you will lose 20 kilograms (44 pounds) and feel like you are 17 years old again. I know, I've done that. (Actually doing that again is my New Year's resolution - that is starting today!!!!)


When I stopped drinking and went completely raw food for six months, I lost 17 kilograms.

I want to do that again. But I digress....


This is a post about creating more time in your day by abstaining from alcohol. You really can lighten your work load and create more time by doing so.


Last year, in the middle of November, I went to work and saw an old friend of mine who was the founder of a multi-million dollar company and retired a millionaire before 50-years-old. We had a nice talk and I told him that I was extremely over worked, tired and hung-over (funny that, being tired and hung over is not conducive to efficient work and time usage). I told him that I was out with a business acquaintance of ours that we've both known for years. That business acquaintance's name is Ray.




Ray is a world famous concert promoter. He founded Beatink in Japan. That means he does live the life of "Sex, Drugs, and Rock n Roll" (no drugs in Japan, of course). Ray is a wild one. Wildly successful and wildly crazy sometimes. The night before I had dinner with Ray and we started at 5:00 and by 9:00 pm we had drank a few cocktails and (I think) four bottles of wine. After that, we went back to Ray's house and watched Japanese sixties Sci-Fi Horror flicks. There we drank at least another six bottles of wine. I lost count. The next thing I knew it was 3:30 am and I told Ray that I just had to go home. Ray started yelling,


"Mike Rogers you wimp! Get back here and let's drink some more wine!" 


He was still yelling when I crawled out of the house and I am sure Ray and his girlfriend drank some more (well, actually she doesn't drink that much - Ray drank more)... Like I said, I stumbled out the door and slithered down the stairs to the street. I don't remember how I got home.... Typical.


The next day I had a hellacious hangover and four important meetings to attend to.


That brings me back to meeting and talking with my retired at 50-years-old millionaire friend in the middle of November. I told him about drinking with Ray and he laughed. He knew too well what drinking with Ray was like. I told my friend about how I was burning the candle at both ends and I asked for advice on how I could open up more time for myself. He smiled and laughed and said, 


"Stop drinking."


I protested. How can I stop drinking in Japan? A country that has a culture of sales and personal business relationships built on deals made over drinks?


My friend smiled once again. He said,


"I know another extremely wealthy president of another company who had the same problem so he went to a retired businessman he greatly respected to ask for advice. The retired businessman told him to stop drinking. The wealthy president claimed the same as you do, 'impossible to stop drinking because of the ways of business in Japan.' The retired businessman said, 'Yes. That is true. But drinkers will also understand the sufferings of other drinkers. Tell your friends that you have some sort of illness that prevents you from drinking.'"


That was like a light going off in my head. It's true. I know from experience. When I had a terrible gout attack, and had to stop drinking, none of my friends pressured me to drink: they all felt really sorry for me! Really!


Trust me. Many (most?) guys who drink who are in their fifties or later have had drink-related problems or know someone very close to them who has. We do feel sorry for you if you don't want to drink.


Being a teetotaller has had a very uncool image for years! 


The moral of the story? If you want to feel better and be more productive and wake up fresher, stop drinking. If your peers pressure you, I gave you a good excuse just now: Just say you have gout or border-line diabetes. They'll stop bothering you (or they're not your friends!) By feeling better and being more alert and alive, you will get more work done in a much faster and more efficient process. You probably can't cut down all those meetings, but you can help yourself to get a better rest and to feel younger and more energetic and clear-headed if you stop drinking for a few weeks.


Now, that's how you create more time and less stress for yourself.


Nah. I stopped that three years ago.


As for me, I'm getting ready to start working the new year in earnest from this Tuesday. It takes a lot to get myself ready and mentally prepared to go out and do my best. But I have decided to do it. I want to do it for work, for my health and to help me spend more time with my family. 


I am going to eat raw foods only for a few months and stop drinking starting today. Wish me luck? Any readers out there who wish to join me for a cup of tea?

Save Your Life With a Blender


Are you or your parents feeling poorly? Your health declining? Is your stomach constantly messed up? You have have all sorts of ailments like high-blood pressure or gout?

When I went to see my dad in hospice the other day, he looked like he was going to die at any minute. Around his eyes were dark and sunken. His cheeks looked the same. Throw in the oxygen tubes he had running in his nose and he looked like he could have keeled over and died at any moment.

That wasn't my dad. That guy near death was some guy I didn't even know.

My father was much worse than the last time I saw him three months ago. At that time, I went to see him right after he had been released from intensive care. We visited him and, within a week, he was up and walking around and feeling much better.

This time, on the first night, as I said, he looked like he was next to death. Besides an oxygen tank, he had a walker and couldn't safely make it by himself from the bedroom to the living room. He couldn't put on his clothes by himself nor could he even button his shirt.

By the time I left 7 days later, he was standing in the kitchen, without a walker, and was cooking his own biscuits and gravy (which, to my chagrin, he laced with salt before eating - as he has always done).

What was the secret to this miraculous conversion? Well, you can bet it wasn't because of the cocktail of chemicals he was being given by the doctors nor his SAD diet (consisting of heated up canned food). I believe that his quick recovery was due to my insistence that he drink one glass of raw vegetable and fruit juice before every meal. Then he can eat whatever he wants.

You don't even need a juicer. A regular old household blender is plenty suitable for making your own fruit and vegetable juice. Just throw in some celery, carrots, broccoli, cabbage, tomatoes, what-have-you with some bottled water then blend at high speed.

After that, add fruits to sweeten it up.


People will always tell you to eat healthy and cut down on processed foods and foods filled with chemicals and salt and other additives. That's obvious.

Everyone knows that eating healthy is better for you than eating the diet which is now referred to as, "SAD" (Standard American Diet).

If you were to list the factors that increase the risk of cancer, heart disease, stroke, intestinal disorders – just about any illness – the standard American diet has them all:
  • High in animal fats
  • High in unhealthy fats: saturated, hydrogenated
  • Low in fiber
  • High in processed foods
  • Low in complex carbohydrates
  • Low in plant-based foods
The striking fact is that cultures that eat the reverse of the standard American diet – low fat, high in complex carbohydrates, plant-based, and high in fiber – have a lower incidence of cancer and coronary artery disease (CAD). What's even more sad is that countries whose populations can afford to eat the healthiest disease-preventing foods don't. The United States has spent more money on cancer research than any country in the world, yet the American diet contributes to the very diseases we are spending money to prevent.

Yes. SAD is poison. But, as with people like my dad, you can't teach an old dog new tricks. He will still eat his mash potatoes and gravy and his steak and potatoes, but at least with a glass of homemade Frappe (juice) he fills his stomach up first and gets those raw veggies his body so desperately needs. And, if he has a glass of that before every meal, he won't eat as much salty chemical laced foods.

It's not the best solution but it is a practical one that worked wonders for me and my father.
