First up today is a band from Ontario, Canada. Their name is Dany Laj & the Looks. Their bio says: "Dany Laj’s heartfelt songs seamlessly meld together elements of rock, folk, and punk, without straying too far from the power-pop roots that give the tunes a certain joie de vivre, with nods to tunesmiths like Nick Lowe and Paul Westerberg. The narrative weaved together by Laj’s powerful yet unpretentious lyrics tells the tale of the Northern Ontario kid trying to find his way south."

At #1 is Hayley & the Crushers from California! Their bio says: "One part punk-pop, one part sunny surf, all "poolside glitter trash," San Luis Obispo, California's Hayley and the Crushers offer up a tsunami of bold, bad girl fun. Fizzy, frothy, and still a little dangerous, be careful just how far you paddle out. There's blood in the water and the mermaids in this part of the Crusherverse are known to nibble."

SPOTLIGHT ARTIST! Today's spotlight artists are Katsu! Tarui Band from Tokyo (I think!) Their bio says: "They began as a punk band formed by high school pals Hiroshi Tarui and Hidetoshi Shindo, who were influenced by Ramones, Sex Pistols, Buzzcocks, etc. in 1978.
Beginning with a high school school festival, it was rare as a punk band for active high school students, and performed live with bands around Tokyo Rockers at S-KEN Studio and Kichijoji Minor."

----------------------------About Mike in Tokyo Rogers: Mike has been a professional music/TV/radio/anime-related program producer in Japan since the eighties.
He began in the music business in 1977 as lead vocalist with the legendary Los Angeles Punk Band, “The Rotters” (Sit on My Face Stevie Nix.).
As a university student, he was assistant to the legendary Rodney Bingenheimer (Rodney on the ROQ – KROQ Los Angeles from 1980 ~ 1981.)
Mike was the first and only foreigner in Japanese history to become the General Manager of a major Japanese broadcasting station (TV Tokyo owned InterFM). Has produced a few smash hit programs (some real losers, too!) and several of Tokyo’s highest-rated and most famous radio programs.
A recent hit Internet TV program was “The TV Show” (Set Program with “Ninja Slayer”) which, between April – Oct. 2015, garnered over 10 million viewers.
He is currently producing and hosting “The Mike Rogers Show” daily around the world!
Also, Mike is the creator and founder of the Japan Indies Film Festival.
Also his life’s dream is his full-length motion picture, “Ghostroads – A Japanese Rock and Roll Ghost Story,” which enjoyed its World-Premiere at the Raindance Film Festival in London on Sept. 25, 2017, and was released by a major Japanese motion picture company and in theaters all across Japan from Sept. 2017 ~ Mar. 2018. The DVD and Blu-Ray went on sale all across Japan on June 13, 2018!
His next project, “Matsuchiyo – Life of a Geisha” world premiered at the 2018 Raindance Film Festival in Oct. 2018.
Mike is also an Official Jury member to the Raindance Film Festival in London making him the first person ever to serve as a Jury Member from Japan in Raindance Film Festival history. …
Oh, and he likes to write about himself in the third person! Past radio shows can be found on Mixcloud: https://www.mixcloud.com/mikerogersshow

Comments must be succinct & relevant to the story. Comments are checked frequently and abusive, rude or profane comments will be deleted. I’m just one of many bloggers who answer questions online and sometimes for the press. I usually handle questions about Japan, marketing or the economy, so in those areas I’m more likely to make sense and less likely to say something really stupid. If I post something here that you find helpful or interesting, that’s wonderful. This is my personal blog. If you don't like what you have read here then, just like when you go into a restaurant or bar that allows smoking, if you don't like it, there's something at the front that has hinges on it and it is called a "door."
