Welcome back the Top 3 Video Countdown for June 15, 2019!
First up today is a duo from Brazil and Denmark! They are called, The Courettes! Their bio states: "WHAAAAUW! The Courettes is the garage duo sensation from Brazil and Denmark! It's savage! It's dynamic! After the blasting debut album “Here are the Courettes” - critically acclaimed on the garage scene all around Europe - The Courettes are back with the SMASH HIT single “Boom! Dynamite!” + B-Side killer “T-C-H-A-U”! Straight from the legendary Toe Rag Studios in London, produced by Liam Watson. More fuzz! More screaming! Louder drums! More raw vocals! In good ol’ Analog’n’Couriffic MONO!!!" Here's their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/courettes/
Next up is a band from St. Petersburg Russia who just finished their USA tour! They are Messer Chups! Their bio states: "While Messer Chups' mostly instrumental sound is hard to neatly categorize, it’s safe to say that it would be embraced by fans of rockabilly, horror punk, vintage surf records, Italian slasher films, My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, Pulp Fiction, lounge music, the theremin, The Cramps, and the theme song from The Munsters. Their catchy music combines surf, vintage Russian melodies, rare film samples from the 50s and 60s, scratchy historical recordings, and lounge loops. Live, they explode with garage-punk intensity, all played against a video-collage backdrop of mid-century trashy cult and horror movie clips featuring Russ Meyer and Ed Wood, and superstars like Vampira and Bela Lugosi in a zombie mash-up."
At #1 this week is Bad Mary who will be touring Japan in August and September 2019! Their name is Bad Mary and they are hot!
Bad Mary's bio states: "It’s not the 70s anymore in NYC – but the spirit of that era’s wild punk scene is alive, well and infused into the contemporary roar that’s blasting out of multi-generational Long Island based sensation Bad Mary. Building off the crackling success of their debut album Better Days – which garnered three first round Grammy ballot nods and whose “Forget About It” and “Don’t Know Where The Line Is” provided an edgy soundtrack to the 2014 NBA Finals – the foursome led by powerhouse vocalist Amanda Mac has a fresh bold task for their new EP: Killing Dinosaurs."
SPOTLIGHT ARTIST! This week's Spotlight Artist is a girl from Tokyo called, "Julie." I found this video completely by accident. I know that this song was recorded with the help of members of the Scottish Rock Band, Placebo! Julie is quite an enigma as she hit the air in Japan in 2016, and then has simply vanished!
