Old Japanese Guy Has Hilarious Pranks!

Now this is FUNNY! I don't understand this, but this is what YouTube says:

Princeton University Cognitive Science Laboratory as "acting like a clown or buffoon" or "dressing showily", or alternatively, "a ludicrous or grotesque act done for fun and amusement". Pranks can take the forms of practical jokes, hoaxes, or even petty criminal activity, such as the theft of traffic cones.
Practical jokes are associated with several holidays, such as April Fool's Day, Halloween, and the Day of the Holy Innocents (in Spanish-speaking cultures). They also feature in various rites of passage, such as stag nights.
In recent years, the term "pranking" has also come to mean the ringing of a mobile telephone and hanging up before it is answered, to alert the mobile phone's user without having to pay a network connection charge.

Anyhow, pay close attention to this video! This is great!

Japanese Real-Life Bridge Looks Like Erector Set

From Dump Trumpet.

The Coolest Double Spiral bridge you'll ever see!

The Kawazu-Nanadaru Loop Bridge consists of two spirals, each 1.1 km long,
80-meter in diameter - the only way for traffic to get down the mountainside into the valley, too steep for any other usual road-building solutions. The busy
Route 414 serves the weekend crowd from Tokyo, intent to wind down at the hot springs resort of the Izu Peninsula. The "winding down" bit obviously starts at this bridge. Built in 1981, the double-spiral structure demands careful driving - the speed limit on the bridge is only 30 km/h, which also helps to better enjoy the views...

Japanese Artist's Work on Display in New York

Japan doesn't have big parades down the streets like they do in the west (due to the cities being so cramped and narrow for a hundred years, we still have most large streets that have over ground telephone poles). But some Japanese artists get to take their work elsewhere and show it off. One artist did at this year's Macy's Day Thanksgiving Parade!

Geekosystem reports:

This year's Macy's Thanksgiving Parade, like usual, featured a number of new balloons, prominently featuring the transformed art of four pop artists. Takashi Murakami, Japan's king of pop art, was honored with two balloons, one each for his characters Kaikai and Kiki, and appeared himself, in costume, riding the float beneath them. more pictures of what happens when you take already strange-to-western-eyes Japanese otaku culture and filter it through a "high-art" lens to follow.

No More Mailing Packages to USA Over 1 Pound (453 grams)

It was reported on this site a while back and now here is confirmation: No More Mailing Packages to USA Over 1 Pound

Note to readers: I have just confirmed this news myself with a trip to the Futagotamagawa branch of the Japanese post office. They will no longer accept any packages mailed to the United States that weigh over 453 grams.
The staff at the post office told me that policy was confused and that the Japanese post office is trying to get clarification. But, until then, the rule stands: "No packages to the USA that weigh a total of over 453 grams (one pound)."
Homeland Security has gone mad in the USA. How much longer will the people tolerate this?

Napolitano Halts Shipment of Packages as Prelude to Civilian 'Shipper' ID Lockdown

We then took a look at Japanese postal web sites to try to find out what's going on and discovered that Janet Napolitano set up new Department of Homeland Security (DHS) shipping restrictions on November 17, 2010 that blocks the shipping of any NON COMMERCIAL parcel into the United States that weighs more than 0.9 pounds (under 16 ounces) without first supplying the Social Security number (or taxpayer ID number) of the RECEPIENT of the package.

Korea's Nearing All Out War? Artillery Heard in North Korea! Breaking!

Artillery Heard in North Korea; U.S. Carrier Enters Yellow Sea 28 Nov 2010 Residents of South Korea’s Yeonpyeong island were ordered to bomb shelters after artillery shots were heard on the North Korean mainland and U.S. warships began naval exercises in the nearby waters of the Yellow Sea. The echo of shots rang out this morning, said a South Korean Defense Ministry official who declined to be named, citing military policy. While residents were later allowed out of shelters, the aircraft carrier USS George Washington joined South Korean vessels for four days of drills.

US, S.Korea in show of force as islanders take refuge 28 Nov 2010 The United States and South Korea staged a potent show of naval strength Sunday as residents of a border island bombarded last week by North Korea scurried for shelter for fear of a new attack. The Yellow Sea naval drill, spearheaded by the massive US nuclear-powered aircraft carrier George Washington, aims to send a message of deterrence to the North but has sparked strong criticism from Pyongyang's ally China.

North Korea readies missiles as U.S.-South Korea drill begins 27 Nov 2010 North Korea has placed surface-to-surface missiles on launch pads in the Yellow Sea, Yonhap news agency reported on Sunday, as the United States and South Korea began joint military exercises that have upset neighbor China. The agency also said North Korea had moved surface-to-air missiles to frontline areas, days after it shelled a tiny South Korean island killing four people. The North's official KCNA news agency warned of retaliatory action if its territory is violated.

Japan on high alert amid war games 28 Nov 2010 Japan is increasing its vigilance amid a joint military drill by the United States and South Korea in the Yellow Sea a week after an alleged North Korean attack on the Yeonpyeong Island. Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan told reporters on Friday night that the government is taking all possible measures, Japan's public broadcaster NHK reported on Saturday. Kan instructed all cabinet ministers to remain in Tokyo during the military exercises in order to prepare for any contingency.

The questions must be asked, "Why is this happening now?" Is this a game to help prop up a failing US Dollar?

 Financial Terrorists! (ビデオは下)

Max Keiser has a great idea as to how we can fight back against the corrupt banking system:

MK: The question in not whether or not buying Silver crashes JP Morgan. No one is saying – not even JP Morgan – that it’s not possible if enough people mobilize and take physical delivery. The question now is whether or not the people of Ireland, Greece, Iceland, Hungary, France, Argentina, and all the countries being forced to give up their sovereignty to bail out the bankers and the IMF are willing to spend a few bucks to save themselves. The only defense JP Morgan has, the only way their stock can be saved from ZERO is if central banks print more money – - – but that only means that the remaining shorts on JP Morgan’s books are even more damaging to their balance sheet and the Silver in your hand is worth even more!!!! Don’t be a fucking idiot and don’t be swayed by those who think you’re not angry enough to take down the principle architect of your misery. Crash JP Morgan Buy Silver.

TSA Worker Accused Of Assault Had Prior Record

Channel 2 Action News has learned a TSA security worker accused of abducting and sexually assaulting a woman had previously been convicted of misdemeanor harassment and stalking.
Randall King remains hospitalized following a suicide attempt. Police said last Wednesday, King agreed to drive a woman home from the airport. Instead, investigators said King took her to a MARTA station parking lot and placed novelty handcuffs on her.

US Military Antagonizing China and North Korea

On Wednesday Nov.24, I wrote about how we didn't get the true story about the North Korean army firing upon a South Korean Island.

Now it seems that the intrigue has deepened.

Business Insider posts:

China has warned against military activity near its coastline ahead of U.S.-Korea naval exercises, according to Reuters.
China's Foreign Ministry said in an online posting that naval exercises risks starting a war: "We oppose any military act by any party conducted in China's exclusive economic zone without approval."
North Korea has also threatened to respond to military gestures with more attacks: "The situation on the Korean peninsula is inching closer to the brink of war due to the reckless plan of those trigger-happy elements to stage again war exercises targeted against the (North)."

Now things are beginning to make sense. Why in the world is the US Imperial military machine antagonizing North Korea and China?

Or  is this all, as many have suggested, a way to prop up a failing US dollar?

Donut Boom in Japan Goes Mania!

There is definitely a donut boom going on here in Japan. Before we just had Dunkin' Donuts and Mister Donuts (both B-grade) but the competition really started heating up when Krispy Kreme donuts opened shop.

Now, Krispy Kreme is all the rage.

But it's not just donuts that all the girls are talking about (and eating).... How about a personal donut carrying case?

Japan Has Just As Many Michelin Restaurants as France Does!

I have been telling many friends, over the years, that Japan (Tokyo in particular) has some of the best restaurants in the world. Today's news once again confirms this.

From Google

Japan has for the first time drawn level with France in terms of the number of three-Michelin-starred restaurants it can boast, according to the latest Tokyo guide released Wednesday. The 2011 version of the French foodie bible saw 14 eateries in Tokyo get top marks from Michelin, giving Japan a total of 26 of the coveted stars nationwide and putting it neck-and-neck with Michelin's home turf. Tokyo itself managed to keep its status as the world capital of cuisine, according to Michelin, with its 14 three-starred establishments, up from 11 last year, building its lead over Paris, which has just 10.

Super Narrow Japanese Houses

I wrote a while back about super narrow Japanese houses (Japan's version of Shotgun Houses).

Check out these great photos from Baraskit.sehttp://www.baraskit.se:

The Truth About North Korea and South Korea

There is nothing that happens on the Korean peninsula that doesn't affect Japan. But we must always use a cool head and be patient when making judgements and not jumping to conclusions.

The reports earlier today were completely blaming North Korea for agressive actions and killing civilians for no apparent reason.

The Lookout on Yahoo reported:

Early Tuesday, North Korea fired artillery shells at the South Korean island of Yeonpyeong, which sits off the disputed maritime border between the two countries. The attack killed two South Korean marines and wounded 18 soldiers and civilians.  It prompted an exchange of fire between the two sides, involving around 175 artillery shells and lasting about an hour.
The North accused South Korea of having started the exchange by firing shells inside North Korean territory during a set of South Korean military exercises that the North called "war maneuvers."  The South denies that charge, saying that its soldiers were merely conducting military drills and that no shots fell in North Korean territory.
This report makes North Korea out to look like it is completely in the wrong.
But, then, a few hours later, the story changes.
The skirmish began when North Korea warned the South to halt military drills near their sea border, according to South Korean officials. When Seoul refused and began firing artillery into disputed waters — but away from the North Korean shore — the North retaliated by shelling the small island of Yeonpyeong, which houses South Korean military installations and a small civilian population.
Seoul responded by unleashing its own barrage from K-9 155mm self-propelled howitzers and scrambling fighter jets. Two South Korean marines were killed in the shelling that also injured 15 troops and three civilians.
We know that North Korea is run by some very paranoid people. We know that Kim Jong Il is sick and about to be replaced by his son. It's a pretty safe guess that the son is willing to show that he cannot be pushed around easily.
So why does South Korea antagonizes these people?
It is easy to imagine that North Korea would get very upset about belligerent military maneuvers near their maritime border. Then after they demand a halt, they are ignored. What would be their response?
If they fired shells into the water, it might look like they were poor shots with poor equipment. I can see why they would fire on a military base.
I am not excusing North Korea at all. They are dangerous and not to be messed with.
I think that if you are messing with a hornet's nest and they buzz by your head and warn you to stay away, you'd better to stay away. Why in the world would South Korea fire shells into North Korean waters? What could possibly be the purpose of that besides starting a war

No Prison For Grandkid Who Pilfered Money... Well, Of Course...

Why should she get prison? Is she anymore guilty of stealing than these idiots we have running the country?

From Yomiuri Newspaper

The Tokyo District Court on Monday sentenced the granddaughter of a man whose mummified remains were found in their home in July to 2-1/2 years in prison, suspended for four years, for fraudulently receiving the man's pension benefits. Sogen Kato had been recognized by the Tokyo metropolitan government as the oldest living man in Tokyo before his body was discovered at his house in Adachi Ward. The incident turned out to be the first in a series of cases in which local governments discovered centenarians registered in their cities, towns and villages were actually dead or missing. Basically, the Art of Deception is nothing new, especially in financial markets. Deception is fundamentally at the very heart of the American Financial System given that the Federal Reserve is not a federal institution but rather a syndicate of Global Banks – also known as the World Central Banks. Some would argue – the New World Order.
THE WORLDWIDE REVOLUTION IN ON
The following Videos are representative of the Worldwide Effort Underway NOW to Crash JPMorgan by taking PHYSICAL DELIVERY of ALL METALS. Silver which is traded via ETF (electronic traded funds), where reportedly, JPMorgan and others have been MASSIVELY Overselling Silver at a rate of 100 to 1. By demanding delivery, people are legally demanding their Silver to be delivered into their possession.
There IS the possibility that as people worldwide demand delivery, the Banks will divert huge sums of cash into the ETF to bring the Spot price up to historical levels, possibly $100.00, in an effort to keep traders in the market in yet another attempt at the deception. Investors will believe the ETF are actually a tremendous investment, when in fact, it is part of a STRATEGY to escalate the SPOT price, thereby slowing the FLOW of Physical purchases. We will have to see if this is what takes place – this is my personal prediction. People with ETF should beware of this strategy which will inevitably lead to a Bull Market and the hesitation to DEMAND DELIVERY.
Of course, one should also keep in mind the foot-dragging on the part of the CFTC in investigating the scheme discovered and testified to before the CFTC Board recently by GATA Chairman Paul MurphyGATA Chairman Bill MurphyTestifies to CFTC 1 & CFTC 2
Credit should be awarded to MAX KEISER who courageously stated on Alex Jones that there would be a possibility of CRASHING JBMORGAN by BUY SILVER as a campaign that has a dual purpose. One, and more importantly, is to create a worldwide awareness to this issue, and two, a massive discrediting of the FIAT Monetary System as a whole and the transfer of Individual Wealth into Physical Commodities – like Silver, Gold, Copper, Platinum and Palladium.
PEOPLE ARE F’ING PISSED
People are F’ING PISSED at the Evil and Deliberate Perpetration of the Economic Destruction by Design against the World Economy in what amounts to an Elite / NWO / Bankster effort to decapitate the well-being, stability and financial security of Nations the world over in what obviously is estimated to be the ENDGAME to Global Governance and Total Control of every facet of humanity through Banking and World Government.
Who else can orchestrate this but a cooperation of Global Players like The United Nations, The World Bank and other unknown and more importantly, unseen individuals. Don’t be a SHEEP – WAKE UP.

NHK and Public TV are Criminal Enterprises - Don't Pay NHK

One can only guess what the government wonks are thinking about at NHK as to how to retain revenues but one thing is certain; they are not going to let us (the public) off easily. (Even though well over 50% of NHK employees do not pay the monthly fee! See below!)

As of today, NHK charges the public (that means everybody! NHK employees included) for just having a TV set even if they don't watch NHK. The obvious solution? I threw away my TV set. No TV? No charge. It's simple.

But, even after I threw my TV away, the NHK people came to my house and tried to collect fees. When I told them that I do not even own a TV set, they didn't believe me. One collector asked, "If you don't have a TV, then why do you have an antenna?"

I bought my house used and so there was an antenna on top of the house. Since I do not want to fight with these people, I paid for a house reform company to remove the antenna. Now, NHK collectors no longer bother me.

But now, these laughable crooks are considering charging everyone (the same as a tax) whether you own a TV or not.

The headlines at News On Japan read: Will NHK's fee system survive? / Broadcaster looks to adapt as Net viewing rapidly changes the game

Facing a changing television environment due to the growing popularity of online programming and other factors, NHK launched a review of its viewing fee system last month through an expert panel. Is the long-standing belief that "Once you have a TV set, you have to start paying NHK," about to be changed? The panel, an advisory body to NHK President Shigeo Fukuchi, comprises eight specialists, including experts on law and economics. It will make recommendations on any necessary changes to the viewing fee system when TV broadcasts are fully digitized next July. The panel will work until around June next year, and the results of its discussions will be reflected in NHK's management plan for fiscal 2012 to 2014.

What the hell!? These advisors will recommend to the president of NHK for changes to the pay system and then the management of NHK thinks they have the power to decide to levy a tax on the Japanese public? Ha! There's no way in the world that this could be legal.

The president of NHK and their attorneys have no legal standing whatsoever to levy a tax on the public.

Under current law, it says that if you don't pay the fees for owning a TV to NHK, you can be penalized. The problem with the law is that it doesn't specify what those penalties are. So if you are reading this, then I strongly suggest that you stop paying NHK fees immediately. Now, seeing as to how this was decided, it is obvious as to why there are no penalties stated in Japanese law: it is illegal to do so.

The article at Yomiuri continues:

NHK is paying close attention to reforms under way in Germany. As in Japan, a German public broadcaster collects viewing fees based on TV ownership.

To address the issues raised by the spread of the Internet, the German government is likely to revise its broadcast law so fees are levied from the public whether or not they own TVs, with the goal of implementing the new system in 2013.

The reform is based on the idea that viewing fees for public broadcasters should be shouldered equally among members of the public. The fee will be the same for every household, while it will vary depending on payroll size for businesses.

I do not watch TV and have no plan to. I will refuse to pay any sort of levied taxes for public TV too. I suggest that you consider doing the same.

This is not the Soviet Union. If public TV decides to broadcast without commercials then that is their choice. I didn't decide that policy and so I will not pay for it. The government forcing us to pay for public TV is illegal and a criminal act.

I strongly suggest that you inform your family and friends about this and get ready to resist this attempt to increase our taxes without public debate.

As is pointed out above; the law doesn't state what the penalties are for non-payment of NHK fees. If you read between the lines of the Yomiuri article, it is obvious why there are no financial penalties for non-payment of NHK fees; those fees fall under "users fees" under the law and, if you do not want to pay them, you do not have to. Just do not use the service.

It is exactly the same as a users fee on the highway: You don't have to pay them; use another road.
The above is a comic that appeared in several major Japanese publications after it was reported that NHK employees themselves were not paying the fees.

Translation of the comic (from top left then down):
1) The manager at NHK asks the collector "What percentage of homes did you collect NHK fees from?"
2) The collector hands the mgr. the report. The manager reads it and says, "Hmmm, you only got 71% of the houses paying. I hope you could get 80% payment!"
3) The manager says, "By the way, do you have the report on what percentage of NHK employees are paying?"
4) The manager gets the report and says, "52% of NHK employees are paying the fees? Good work! Excellent results!"

With this blog, I hereby grant my permission to NHK and any other public broadcaster to start broadcasting TV commercials to pay for their services. We the public are taxed too much as it is. I refuse to pay another tax for this sort of nonsense.

I will write my intention to refuse payment - along with granting my permission to air TV commercials - to NHK.

This blog is my public statement that I will refuse to pay any sort of taxation for public TV and, if forced to do so or threatened with any sort of legal actions or penalties, I will seriously consider a class action suit and sue NHK if they try to pull this stunt (not that I would be the only one). If NHK collectors come to my house and threaten me or my family (as they have do so in the past) I will call the police.

Be forewarned NHK collector: if you insist upon coming to my house for collection, then I will consider you to be trespassing and will call the police.

Either way, a flat tax to everyone whether or not they watch TV is completely illegal. Don't be railroaded into paying it.

Consider: Will the sight-impaired be taxed for this? Of course not. Nor should they.

Under the law of Japan, taxation must be levied equally (unless it is a user's tax such as highway tolls as shown above). Considering the legal ramifications of that point then it is obvious that a tax on everyone for public TV is illegal. If we are to start changing the rules for public TV - under the weak auspices that they are a "public service" and therefore taxable -like something akin to health insurance then this country is surely in more trouble than our public debt at 200% of GDP would indicate.
