There are three kinds of love: Fall in Love, Real Love and Spiritual Love.

Fall in Love is easy. People do it all the time. Most people will do this, perhaps,  dozens and dozens of times during their lives. Fall in Love usually starts in puberty when a youth falls in love with some star they've seen in magazines or on TV... Or they "Fall in Love" with a classmate that they've never really gotten to know. Fall in Love is "love" of someone, or more specifically speaking, "falling in love" with the "image" of someone. It is not falling in love with that true person. It is falling in love with who you think that person is, or wish them to be.

But don't think that Fall in Love is childish or silly. It is not. It could be the first step to Real or True Love.

Too many people today get married merely when they Fall in Love. That's why divorce is so high. People marry when they Fall in Love and then, once reality sets in, and they really get to know their partner, they decide that they weren't really in love at all, so they divorce. 

They divorce because building Real Love requires a lot of work and acceptance of one another's fault's and shortcomings. Building Real Love is not an easy process and takes years of give and take.

A very good friend of mine once told me that he could tell that my wife and I have True Love. He said that one big part of True Love is that it is not physical or involving animalistic tendencies or imagination. True Love involves and requires great sympathy. Sympathy for each other and all the things that we have to suffer through in life.

I think he is right. In a weird sense, I feel sorry for my wife. We have a wonderful life together and we have a wonderful son. We have a home, food and a job... But we are getting older. We are going to die. Perhaps she could have married someone better than me? Perhaps I stole her youth and took away her chances? It's a bizarre notion for most people to think this way, I believe, but it is this sympathy for your partner that is a strong bond for True Love.

Real Love is what, hopefully, our parents have for each other. Of course, it takes decades to build.

The last real love is Spiritual Love. This is the love between a person and their god or a mother and her child. No matter what happens, Spiritual Love cannot be broken. Whereas the other forms of love can be broken, Spiritual Love lives on even in death. A child could be a terrible criminal yet that child's mother will always love them. That is Spiritual Love.

It is the very lucky and fortunate few who marry when they Fall in Love, then they work to build Real Love and, one day, are blessed with Spiritual Love. 


From the above you can surmise that Real Love and Spiritual Love are the two forms of True Love.

It is this True Love and Spiritual Love that blesses far too few of the dying today in our society.

Building True Love and Spiritual Love is a long process that can require years, if not decades. 

I hope you have it. It doesn't come easy. You must work to build it.

If there is any lesson to be learned from my father's experience, then please remember this, and start building True Love today. For it is from True Love that Spiritual Love is born.

True Love requires that you open your heart and accept your partner for what they are and not what you imagine them to be. 

For tomorrow and your death will be here before you know it. As one of my good friend's always says, "Dream as if you will live forever. Live as if you will die tomorrow."

For married partners or those living together, True Love can be yours. Dedication, even in death, can create Spiritual Love.

It is yours to create.

Police in Japan Crack Down on After-Hours.... Dancing!

This idiocy is just getting out of control. I told you that the recent crackdowns on the Yakuza are actually motivated by recent lower government revenues from taxes leading to a fear amongst the Metropolitan Police Department that they are going to have to face budget cuts (so they create a straw man like Yakuza crimes) to justify massive over expenditures, but now they went in a busted a bar because of unruly foreigners (isn't it the bar owner's right to refuse service to anyone they please?) and because, heavens, people were dancing after-hours!!! Dancing! In a night club? What's the world coming to?


The Tokyo Reporter has the story:

TOKYO (TR) – The weekend bust of two popular nightclubs within the Gas Panic chain was due to the presence of undesirable foreigners, reports Nikkan Gendai (Nov. 30).

Well, hell, if you ask me, anyone who frequents Roppongi, foreign or Japanese, if "undesirable." I hate that place. Give me the neighborhood Moe's or local yakitori (chicken BBQ on sticks) anyday!

Early Sunday morning, Tokyo Metropolitan Police entered clubs Gas Panic Bar and Club 99 in the Roppongi entertainment district and arrested managers Hidenori Wakita, 36, and Fumiki Nishihata, 35, for allowing dancing after 1 a.m. — a violation of the Law Regulating Adult Entertainment Businesses.

Dancing!? After 1 am? In a bar in Roppongi!? Never heard of such a thing. Weird, eh? People want to go to Roppongi to drink and dance on a Saturday night? Go figure, eh? 

I'm shocked. Shocked, I tell you to find dancing going on at this establishment!

A journalist who covers the adult entertainment industry says the chain of foreigner-frequented bars is popular for those on low budgets, but in recent times police have been taking notice of trouble. “Recently, poorly behaving foreigners from the Middle East and South-East Asia have started showing up,” says the source. “They make others not want to come around, and maybe some neighbors complained.”

“They make others not want to come around.." Well, maybe, maybe not. But they can't possibly be more misbehavin' than the US military who are now confined to bases for being naughty, raising hell and committing serious crimes.

"...and maybe some neighbors complained"? What do you mean, "maybe"? Anyone who lives in Roppongi near these types of establishments cannot possible complain about drunks, foreigners or loud noises (or even, perish the thought, dancing!) 

The tabloid says that the raid of Gas Panic Bar occurred just before 2 a.m. “There were close to 200 customers in the place,” says a salaryman present at the time. “As the name says, it was a panic. At first, I thought they were targeting drugs or gangs. I was stunned that it was due to licensing problems since this sort of thing has been going on for 20 years.”

The salaryman is quoted, “As the name says, it was a panic." What!? An establishment does what they advertise that they are going to do and this is a problem, officer? And this has been going on for 20 years? Gee, who'd a thunk it? Just one more piece of evidence that this, like clamping down on the Yakuza for the horrendous crimes of ticket scalping, gambling, prostitution and, Mercy! Wining and dining TV producers!? What are we going to do? If I were prime minister, I think I'd declare martial law and do something stupid like bomb another country....Say? Isn't Pearl Harbor day right around the corner? Just asking.

The issue concerns the type of license. Establishments within the Gas Panic chain are licensed as bars, which under the Law Regulating Adult Entertainment Businesses are not allowed to provide entertainment, such as dancing, after 1 a.m. without special authorization. Only drinking, however, is permissible.

Oh? I see. I own a bar or club or whatever. And I need a license to serve drinks. I cannot provide entertainment without another license. So what is "entertainment"? pray tell. Isn't the BGM music that I hear when I walk into Denny's, for example, considered "entertainment"? Well, it sure is as the establishment owner must pay music publishing royalties to play music. And, I need a license for dancing? G*ddamn! This place is starting to sound like the United States! Now, if two people hear some music and start dancing, as a bar owner, is it my duty to stop them? What constitutes "dancing" may I ask?

Dirty Dancing? Footloose? Any Ho's in da house?

Not in this establishment you don't ladies. Not without a license!!!

As an aside, there's far too many stupid people, foreigners included, who are trying to make money off this "Yakuza criminal underworld" nonsense by writing and selling books about non-issues. Once again, let me state, I'm sure the Yakuza and the dirty dancing certainly doesn't kill nearly as many people as the USA and NATO do annually (sometimes with Japan's support).

This was the second arrest in two years for Wakita. In 2009, police found similar violations at Club 99 and GP Bar, which is also within the Gas Panic chain, and took the manager into custody. After that, Gas Panic Bar installed a security camera at the door to alert management to turn the music down if police appeared.

Smart guys. I'd set up a camera too. But this is the only place that I think the Gas Panic people screwed up big time. Head should roll. Better security against police raids, guys! Your customer base deserves to be able to have fun in the security of your establishment and NOT be hassled by a bunch of criminals or SS officers or gestapo who wish to eradicate things like dancing! 

This nonsense is outrageous! The police are obstructing business. If it is too loud or people are dancing, the rational thing to do would be to go visit and ask them to turn it down. The last time this guy was hassled was 2009? Disgusting. (Oh, and by the way, notice the timing? In 2009, after the Lehman Brothers crisis, the economy was tanking and the government and police stepped up this kind of nonsense.)

"I won't dance! I won't! You can't make me!"

If there had been any recent problems at any establishment such as Gas Panic, the proper thing to do would be to contact the manager in a business-like manner and discuss the matter. Busting in and arresting the guy and causing a scene during business hours is Nazi State BS and a clear-obstruction of business issue.

And what of the customers dancing? They are having fun. Are they supposed to know the business license arrangements with the establishment? Is the establishment owner to post signs that say, "No Dancing" on premises? And, even if they did, would anyone think that a "No Dancing" sign was anything but a joke?   

Wakita was eventually convicted.

Oh, what was I saying about the government and police needing money? So, the guy was convicted... For what? Not having a proper dancing license?

This latest bust sends a message, continues the adult-entertainment journalist. “The crackdown will expand,” the writer says. “There are tens of thousands of improperly licensed clubs. Gas Panic is a big name, and they have continued to ignore warnings. Perhaps the police are taking a step forward to show the serious consequences to everyone else.”

The true message this sends is that the licensing business is a farce. It also shows us that the powers that be are completely and totally arbitrary in enforcing the law. When government coiffures run low, you can bet they will find some boogie man for which to try to gain revenues or, at least, makes sure certain department's within the government are not forced to take budget cuts. That they make a big scene and use the media to force the issue shows that they want to instill fear in other establishment owners in order to get them to pay up and buy or renew licenses.

Business is bad enough as it is for establishment owners. Increasing their costs will not help. Using fear to get them to cooperate is proof that this is coercion and a taxation problem. 

Recently, I have been seeing many road stops whereby the police are arbitrarily stopping drivers without due cause to look for some reason to fine them. The escalation against the Yakuza and the media BS is another indicator of this absurdness... Now, Gas Panic gets hit. For what?

For not having a license to allow dancing?*

If this is how things are going then, I say we bring back the 憲兵隊 (kenpeitai) thought police. Who knows what sorts of evil things people who dance are thinking about. They are dangerous...

Or maybe we can make money for requiring a license for any sort of body movement or even thinking about going to the toilet in a bar!

The possibility for new revenues are endless... Just thinking could be taxed.

NOTE: Oh, but I know what you are thinking: Taxing sex won't work as Japanese don't have sex.*

One-quarter of married couples in Japan have had no sex in the past year, a survey showed.

Sex is particularly elusive as people grow older, with the study finding that 37.3 percent of Japanese married couples in their 50s were not having sex.

There was no comparable data for other countries but earlier surveys by condom manufacturer Durex has put Japan among the world’s least sexually active nations.

See? Maybe they don't have sex, but they think about it. So that's where the revenue comes from. 

* I know that the license is not specifically for dancing. It is the difference between a bar and dining establishment. But the point remains that this is a taxation issue. If the government were sincere, they wouldn't make these huge scenes and public mass media showcases. Proper business manners would call for mutually respectful discussions (not that I think the licensing is anything but coercion).

Fifty-Year Old Cartoon Tried to Warn Us - Never Give Up Your Freedom

I remember seeing this cartoon when I was a kid. They tried to warn us.

It's too late? Probably is, but an understanding of this and what this kid's cartoon says, is an education in politics that 92% of all people fail to understand to this day... (my statistics).


I'm relieved that the OWS people are on the streets in the USA now, but can they continue growing? I fear that the powers that be will not relinquish control of the Status Quo so easily.

Confessions of an Extreme Right Winger on the Internet (And Controlling My Temper!)

A commentator to one of my recent posts called me a "extreme right winger on the internet" because I said that "Japan is a homogenous society." When I asked for an explanation, he wrote:


"as for ネトウヨ it means in internet speak an extreme right winger on the internet... article talks about the right wingers angry at a group called perfume (who are very cute and very good singers too by the way) because they were on a tv show and said they liked kimuchi nabe. This caused the ネトウヨ to become angry and spout their anti-korean messages and calling korean チョン and saying they should die and what not." (sic)


I failed to see (and still do) where I can be called an "extreme right winger on the internet" because I related the world-wide commonly understood notion that "Japan is a homogenous society." Let me defend myself by saying that I didn't invent the term, nor did I apply it first to Japan, nor am I intelligent enough to analyize Japanese society enough to formulate the opinion. I'm just passing on commonly agreed to knowledge and conclusions.


Even though I do that, I am called an "extreme right winger on the internet"?  


Yes. I know, dear reader. It seems very twisted and painful logic but these are the things that bloggers must suffer. If you wish to blog, be forewarned. But that's not the point... I get these kinds of attacks all the time. Perhaps my writing (of course my writing) is not as good or clear as it should be. I usually delete the ad hominem attacks immediately as they are VERY rude and insulting. But today's I have, so I want to use it as a base... This is not meant as an attack on this one individual as, like I said, it could be because my poor writing skills so I'm sorry. Let me explain.... 


Everyday, when I wake up, I write my ten goals for the day. You should too! I was taught to do this by some of my millionaire friends. Trust that when a successful millionaire advises you to do something, you probably should take the advice. One of my important goals is always #8. It says, "I am kind to people." This has to do with people I meet on the street or at work or people who comment on my blog posts. Many people just try my patience. Whether it be from their lack of experience, naievity, or poor education or work skills. 


Being kind to people, especially to rude commentators is great therapy for the soul. I am always happy with myself when I can be kind and not lose my cool. So writing it down everyday helps me to do it. 


I tried not to blast the guy (a few years ago I certainly would have). 


I find it astounding that someone would call me a right winger with its connotations of being racist and anti-immigration. Why? Since I was born, I have been a minority in my home country with an immigrant mother. I am most certainly a minority and an immigrant in Japan with children of mixed heritage (even more so than myself). How in the world could anyone consider me right wing? That would be the height of hypocrisy (which might make me eligible for a ranking post at the US State Department, no?)


In America, I had a Japanese immigrant mother. So I was considered half-Japanese American. No big deal. I was proud of it.


In Japan, my mother was part Korean Japanese (well, when you get right down to it, what Japanese isn't?) Why my mom was naturalized Japanese is because her 1/4 or 1/2 Korean Japanese mother (unsure exactly) and Japanese father died when she was a baby and she was adopted by a very wealthy Japanese family with connections (or so her adopted family "sisters" told me). Hence she was allowed to be naturalized Japanese. On top of that, I am an immigrant with a Japanese wife and mixed race children.


Gee, think I am right winged and racist? That's probably like attacking a gay or  transvestites by claiming they are "Republicans."


So that probably defends my position as not being "extreme right winger on the internet" no? Then the commentators remarks about,


This caused the ネトウヨ to become angry and spout their anti-korean messages and calling korean チョン and saying they should die and what not."  


Relating my saying "Japan is a homogenous country" to this is, well, frankly speaking scatalogical and just plain nuts. 


Anyway, not to completely change the subject...


I also work with Korean artists and promoters bringing Korean music to the Japanese public. In a recent exchange with a true right winged nut I was attacked with these comments:

Mike, you should know how entrenched the yakuza are in business. Most, if not all, Yazuka have their roots in Korea. Korean pop culture does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for Japan-Korea relations. It simply makes those promoting it richer.

Soccer is global phenomenon and, after Japan beat Korea at the recent Asia Cup 2011 (which they took the championship), a Korean soccer player mocked the Japanese by imitating a monkey. That simply goes to show you how much the friggin' Koreans feel about the Japanese.

You might seriously consider passing the pipe you're smoking so the rest of us can hallucinate an ideal world the same as you...

Oh, Lordy, the things that try my patience. I get silly stuff from both the right and the left. I responded 

Yes. I know better than most. The Yakuza are entrenched in all areas of Japanese and Korean pop in Japan. The fact that 16-year-old Japanese girls find Korean pop (a new phenomenon) fun and attractive shows how much better it is at bringing peace to the world's people over something like, say, professional soccer that appeals to nationalism and the neanderthal savage spirit of humans.

You'll never get me to say anything about professional sports fans (especially like those who exhibit behavior as you have reported). This sort of thing happens because professional sports fans can be so immature and barbarous that they get a vicarious thrill and pride at seeing "their" team defeat another team as if that makes them - or their "tribe" - superior in some way.

My argument stands. You'll never see any kids at any of these concerts making racist mockery towards each other. You saw it at your sports game. You have proven me correct by your example.  


Even that I tried to control my temper. Please forgive me. Rome wasn't built in a day. I would like to come back with some funny and snappy remarks, but it is hard when people are so, well, antagonistic.

effects and canned laughter!)

A few weeks after the radio show, my weird "straight" friend, Ken Nishikawa and I met Kaede and had drinks (well, too many drinks, actually!) See my friend Kaede's blog here! 

Of course, I cannot change the world by myself. But I do have the power of the mass media and this blog, for what it's worth. Not nearly enough, but not too bad for a "extreme right winger on the internet" who, alas, is awfully thin-skinned. 

I plan to work on that (being thin-skinned) after I am satisfied with my level of patience. Forgive me now, if I get seriously angry when someone calls me "extreme right winger" when I have been fighting that sort of thing all my life.

One does get riled about that sort of thing when they have memories of, say, going to a restaurant as a small child of six-years-old in Memphis and the owner saying that my dad will be allowed entry but my Japanese mother and my brothers would not.

My dad was furious. He had fought in the Korean War and was a marine (1st Marine division) and when this happened, I clearly remember him going back to get his gun from the trunk of the car. He was going to shoot the restaurant owner (my dad was kind of cool & crazy like that) but my mother stopped him. She begged and pleaded with him for us to leave. We did. Finally.

I figure it's my American side that wants to blast people when they make asinine statements like me being an "extreme right winger on the internet". It's my Japanese side that makes me want to be patient... 

Or is making that claim being racist too?

Now, my therapy is working. I'm being patient... This guy calling me a "extreme right winger on the internet" is just, seriously, laughable.

NOTE: Trust that I don't hate "straights" and Japanese people. I even have some straight friends and a few Japanese friends, too!.... If you don't understand the insinuation and the joke here, you're lame.

Hot Young Female Japanese Actresses, Yakuza Gangsters, Sex and Japanese TV and Mass Media - This Post Has it All!!!

Japan's news has been in a tizzy about the Yakuza and all the scary and awful things that they do that the weekly magazines just can't get enough. Today's post has it all: Sexy young girls, actresses to be exact; prostitution, gambling, mafia, TV producers and shows, and other naughty bits.


Since April of 2011, the Japanese police have been obsessed with the activities of the Yakuza, the Japanese mafia. This writer thinks it's a total farce and waste of hard-earned taxpayer monies chasing these guys around.

After all what story about gambling, sex and mafia would be complete without one?)

What horrendous crimes are the Yakuza guilty of? Well, they are guilty of the terrible crimes of scalping tickets and prostitution. As far as the crime of ticketing (that's surely the most pressing problem we have today). Please refer to: Japan's Yakuza Mafia Faces a Crackdown:

Recent scandals over illegal gambling among sumo players and ringside VIP tickets for Japan's notorious yakuza gangsters have enveloped Japan's venerated sport of sumo and fascinated the public.

There's not a person in Japan who doesn't like this character. Kind of 
like a Robin Hood or Jesse James to the Japanese.

Then, another victimless mutually consented act of sex between two adults in the privacy of their own room please refer to: "Sex Services in Japan First to Get Back to Business After Earthquake." 

Even the horrifying death and devastation that struck northeastern Japan on March 11 could not suppress the human sex drive for long. Friday (June 10) reports that sex businesses were among the first to recover, many as soon as one week after the disaster.

“I was back at my job on March 18,” says Kitty-san, a 21-year-old employee of a delivery health (out-call sex service) service named Ainori in Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture. “From the day we reopened demand was even higher than it was before the disaster. Many customers had suffered from the catastrophe, and had even lost family members. They justified their urges, saying they 

‘sought psychological relief’ or ‘wanted to be consoled.’....

I applaud these businesses for getting back on track early and creating jobs for people. The economy needs it.

What people need to realize is that the Yakuza have been involved in the entertainment business in Japan for easily over 400 years. Here's two choice tidbits from Wikipedia:

Now, once again, the Tokyo Reporter gives us a story that the - surprise! - Yakuza are involved in TV! Heavens! What will we ever do?  Here's the story from Tokyo Reporter. I have my commentary in between also.

“Entertainment production companies are basically gangster front companies,” says a former television station manager. 


Well, yes and no. Some are. Actually I own a entertainment production company since 1992 and haven't seen any Yakuza around, so this blanket statement is not true (though sometimes I'd like to hire one!) I'm sure in any country there are shady businesses operating. And just what sort of hijinks are these folks guilty of?


“They’ll engage in the wining and dining of TV station producers,"


Wining and dining of prospective clients!? Well, no sh*t Sherlock. Wining and dining to get a client? Never heard of such a thing. This must be stopped! (Over flowing cynicism)


"... and offer gambling on the golf course and mahjong, in which the producers will be intentionally allowed to win big."


Hoo-hum. This writer's never been to Las Vegas? Nah. Letting someone win at a game of cards? Never!


"...Then they might be taken to high-end hostess clubs, operated by gangsters affiliated with the entertainment production company, in Ginza and Roppongi at no charge."


They might be taken to high-end hostess clubs, operated by gangsters affiliated with the production company?... At no charge"? Might!? What a bunch of losers! In any country in the world, it wouldn't be "might" if you wanted to land the big juicy contract, it would be "must." And what's this "No charge" business? Of course it's no charge. 


"Taken to a high-end hostess club"?! You can't be serious. That this BS is even an issue is ridiculous. No! It has never happened in the USA as was reported in the DC Madam case with thousands of Washington insiders who have never been prosecuted (but, you see, they are our masters not lowly peasantry like us) or on CNBC news.


The companies will also arrange parties with some hot, young female actresses. Invitations to soaplands also occur.”


Well, if they are young female actresses, they'd better be hot. And, for the uninitiated, soapland is sort of, how shall I say, er,... a "Disneyland for men,"... if you know what I mean.

As a result, the TV station producers will be influenced regarding the casting and structuring of upcoming programs. 


"Will be influenced"? Is that what they call it nowadays? They used to call it "blowjobs"...These are called, "perks" of the job for TV producers. They get these "perks" because they climbed the ladder for 30 some years.


But there is yet a potentially darker side, the magazine warns.


"Darker side?" Cue ominous music....

“TV employees at big stations frequent ‘members only’ clubs in Nishi Azabu that are managed by close associates of gangsters,” says a police investigator. “The network being built up within this community is a concern.”

Japan is up deep serious economic problems. We have debt at 229% of GDP. Total debt at 492% of GDP. A declining population which is destroying the savings rate and our productivity and these a*sholes in government and the police are concerned about ticket scalpers, hot young actresses, mutually consented sex between adults, a members only clubs?!

Well, okay. I admit, if I were a cop, I'd be interested in the hot young actresses too.

This reminds me of the opening to Leslie Neilsen's Police Squad TV show back in the early 1980's. The entire show is incredibly funny and absurd. In this clip, at around 3:48, Neilsen as Frank Drebin says:

"My name is Sgt. Frank Drebin detective lieutenant Police Squad a special detail of the police department. There'd been a recent wave of gorgeous fashion models found naked and unconscious in laundromats in the west side. Unfortunately, I was assigned to investigate hold-ups at neighborhood Credit Unions." 

Like I said, absurd and way too funny. Too bad the Japanese police aren't joking and are absolutely serious with this idiocy involving ticket scalping and hot baths with steamy young actresses. 

Why don't those clowns get a real job and, instead of obstructing business, do something positive to help the economy?


UPDATE: Confused people who think the state is here to protect us continually attack me for "defending" the Yakuza (these are the same people who hate drug laws yet they fail to make the connection - go figure). Anyway, to show that what the Yakuza are accused of doing is business as usual in the USA (and, in fact, not nearly as bad as the Yakuza do not bomb and kill children the world over 24/7) watch this:

Japan and Europe Imminent Default - Kyle Bass Letter to LPs

Kyle Bass has written his latest letter for Hayman Capital Management. It is not good. Read it... This one sentence sets the tone for the poor outlook for the economy of Land of the Rising, er, Setting Sun....Er, Japan.


"... We believe the debts of the following nations, among others, are not sustainable in the current economic environment: Greece, JAPAN, Portugal, France, and, have we mentioned Japan?"


Notice, on page 9, that Japanese government debt is at "229% of GDP."
